30 years after leaving utterly unrecognisable

this is the first time i have posted on here in many years..... i seldom visit now although this forum was instrumental to me in gaining my sanity in the early 2000's and recovering from the watchtower religion.. by chance tonight i was on youtube and caught a jw.org video which out of curiosity prompted me to look at the official website and amongst other things i looked up the music section.. why that i hear you ask?

music is my passion and nothing reminds me more or evokes more memories than the kingdom songs i grew up listening to.. i am 49 years old and my mother was baptised in 1974. i grew up in the era of pink songbooks and green bibles.

I'm older than you #6 and the WT's dragged on long before you. You think your salvation is at hand when you look back at the clock and it's 5 to 12. 5 minutes that somehow dragged on for another 10. Then the long prayer.

I remember assemblies that proved the Trinity wrong. Who Babylon the Great was. The types and anitypes. Declarations against false religion that brought thunderous clapping around the stadium. Loud joyful singing. Remember the song that had as the ending chorus "What shall we bring, Jehovah's kingdom?" sung by the brothers and then the answer by the sisters - "Triumph and truth and righteousness" Then all would sing the end. That was back in the day before 1975 and people had a firm belief that soon, yes soon Armageddon would bring relief and the end of death.

i know i would be miserable if i could remember all my dead relatives.

all my dead children, parents all my worldly family members and friends, yes and the billions of other people too.

all the people jehovah will be killing off in the years to come.

My mom already acts like she has a lobotomy. My sister came close to death and I told our mother that. Even sent a picture of her in the hospital.

Never called. Never inquired. Guess since I didn't tell her that she died (which she didn't) she just assumed that she lived.

Assembly Question

i just recently attended a circuit assembly and they asked that you did not share any video with anyone and i’m just wondering why this is .

They used to say don't record the talks unless it's for a family member - I guess if they were sick and didn't make it.

In reality, it made it easier to deny that any specific thing had been said from the podium. It allows them to wiggle free of responsibility. But there are a few talks that made it to the internet that reveal what was really said.

Well, my parents were the first impediment I would have to say. Then my mother's religion. I think how you rise above it, depends a lot on your basic personality and if there is intervention from others that come into your life. Or circumstances.

Unfortunately, my personality is pretty docile and trusting. I've been in a box most of my life and still struggle against being influenced. No support from parents in art and the religion X'd it out. I only did art in a commercial sense when i left for a short period. Too bad the fear of Armageddon drug me back in.

So many ingrained pathways at this point, that progress is slow. Oh Well.

Subliminal Messaging

for over 20 years subliminal pictures showed up in most books, wt, and awakes- eighties, nineties and into 2000's.... demons, gods, you name it-- .

question: is anyone seeing anything like this in todays publications?

"Hagar's" clothing is a little suspect because the artist did both her and Sarah, and handled draping really well. But I don't understand the bunching of her material on her shoulder. These two ladies are well done and did a sitting.

The rest of the figures - some have been taken from stock pictures and collaged together. The bull and the walker are stuck together but not convincingly. And you can see they used the same people in different places. I don't know if the "skeleton hand" on her shirt was purposeful or unintentional. Was Hagar's clothing a rush job creating puckers in her shoulder area or an artist that was doing it on purpose... can't say.
